Today's recipe: Poor man's risotto
Ingredients (approximately)
1 can of chicken broth (or one can of concentrated broth+water)
1cup of chinese long grain rice
water-if needed-
splash of cream
salt&pepper
1tbsp olive oil
2tbsp parmasean cheese
1 can spam, thin sliced
Kalen got a little peckish one evening and decided to make a snack for himself and Vikor. So he took a cup of rice they had on hand, washed it and set it aside. He heated up the olive oil in a skillet on med-high and waited for the oil to 'shimmer'. Upon desired shimmering he tossed in the rice and waited for the grains to become opaque and lightly browned or toasted. Vikor was tasked with opening the can of broth and frying the spam into bacon-like things. Once the rice was done toasting Kalen poured the broth in increments waiting for the broth to be absorbed by the rice before adding more broth. It smelled really good, only being stirred a few times he ended up just tossing the rice in the pan to get it mixed without damaging the rice(and making it soggy -ick-). Even though there wasn't any broth left the rice was still too hard.... Seasoning it with a touch of salt and pepper he added water until it became a toothsome texture that was close to pleasant. He poured in a splash of cream and waited for it to soak in a bit before adding parmasean cheese. Serving it with a side of spam bacon -spacon- there was even enough to share with Lexi cat. "mrow <3 nomnomnom."
-Author's note: the spacon was made by frying the thinly sliced spam on medium low heat until dehydrated and dark brown. But not burnt! Flipped frequently until bacon like.-
